At Just Heat Pumps, no two homes are the same and that is what keeps our jobs always fun and challenging in the best way. Every different home, lot, interesting layout, and thought provoking placement challenge is a puzzle we get to solve.
While it would be easy to see a tricky property and walk away from it, we see it as an opportunity to get to work.
Robert’s home was one of those puzzles. He found us on YouTube, where he took a real liking to Xerxes‘ expertise. What sold him was something that a lot of our other customers mention and that is our thoroughness.

The Home
Robert’s 1300 square foot place sits near DIA and is a newer build from the early 2000. Newer doesn’t always mean simple. He had a unique lot and property that made this anything but your standard Denver install.
His old system was aging and he knew it was time to upgrade. Plus he had a vintage Rheem A/C unit (condenser) sitting in the backyard that was way too loud. He wanted it gone or at least relocated.
And here is something you might not know: we’d estimate that roughly one in five Denver homes have no real cooling at all.
Robert’s was one of them, but in his case, the A/C just didn’t work. A hot house in the summer, and equipment that was ready to hit the curb.

What Was The Install Like?
We set Robert up with a Midea 2.5-ton Gen 3 heat pump, which is reliable, efficient, and was the perfect size for his home. Midea is the largest heat pump manufacturer in the world, and they OEM for a lot of other brands you’ve heard of. They have very solid and affordable cold climate units, and we like their systems lately.
The real challenge was placement. Given his unique lot, the relocation of that outdoor unit wasn’t straightforward. During the job walk, we called Xerxes directly to confirm we were cleared to mount in the spot we’d chosen. It’s important to us to be thorough so we can get it right the first time. This includes adhearing to the local codes as well, and to pass inspection.
Moving a unit after the fact can be expensive, so we dot our I’s and cross our T’s so that can be avoidable with good planning from the get go.
One thing worth mentioning: Robert worked long hours and wasn’t always available for communication about the project, so we did the day-to-day communication with his wife, who was wonderful and easy to work with.
But with that said, we knew Robert was the one who made the decision to get a heat pump, so after every in-home visit, we made a point to call Robert separately and catch him up. This was everything from how the visit went, the plan, and how the process was going.
It’s important that everyone is on the same page, so make the extra effort to do so.

Robert now has cooling in a house, which was a first, and even better – quiet, efficient equipment that actually fits his home. He also took advantage of the Xcel rebate and state tax credit, bringing the cost down a ton.
Robert and his wife got over $7,000 in local rebates for this cold climate heat pump system, which we discounted on the invoice, so that wasn’t out of pocket. We know these systems can be expensive, and the rebates around the Denver Metro help an incredible amount.
So those old problems are no more. No more loud condenser in the backyard. No more sweating through the Denver summer. Just consistent comfort, with burning any natural gas to boot!
