At Just Heat Pumps, we work with people from all walks of life. All genders, demographics, neighborhoods, and ages. But we do tend to work with older people who really share the vision that we have to clean Denver’s air.
The stories we’ve heard from some of our retired customers is that their past customer service experiences have been less than desirable, to say it lightly.
We’ve heard how they’ve been treated as if they aren’t intelligent enough to understand the process of the work they need done on things like their house or their car, but with us, they finally feel like they’re being listened to and treated with respect.
Even Jill, one of our first installs, recently told us, “I’ve never had such a great customer service experience in my whole life.”
Our project with Sharon would be no different. With a furnace on the fritz and no A/C to begin with through the hot summer, we certainly wanted to help!
The Home
Sharon had lived in her Washington Park, Denver home for decades and wanted to be more energy efficient, a motivation shared by the majority of our customers. Her old gas furnace wasn’t cutting it anymore and it was time to save money and energy.
With Denver seemingly getting hotter and hotter, her lack of AC was another motivator for making her home more comfortable as the years go by. We don’t blame her for wanting that more consistent temperature throughout her home. Nothing is more comfortable than not even noticing that it’s almost 100 degrees outside in August.

What Was The Install Like?
Sharon was set up with a 3-ton Midea cold climate electrified heat pump. The placement of the outdoor unit was a bit of a concern, but as always, we don’t quit until we can make it work.
Budget was a factor and is a big reason we chose Midea. They are the largest heat pump manufacturer in the world (They OEM for large brands you know – Carrier, Bosch, etc) and the equipment is known to be rock-solid, and comes with a great price to boot.
Denver county has some strict rules. They want the condenser on the back third of the lot (which can often be impossible), and then 5 ft from the property line with clearance to service it. We couldn’t get it in the backyard, so we had to pick a new location, and found a great spot on the side of her home, tucked away and not impeding into any walkways..
The home, being classic and historical to the Wash Park neighborhood, has the common feature of a low ceiling height in the basement. The latest Midea cold climate heat pump package is perfect for this because you can actually split up the air handler into sections, allowing for the ductwork needs and fitment into low-ceiling applications! This is unique to Midea and another reason why we offer them.
Who you work with matters. You want someone who knows the code, knows how to navigate it, and still make you happy with your new system. After all, if the inspectors fail you for heat pump location, it’s quite expensive to move it! We pride ourselves at being able to do it right, and work through much of the decision process and planning on the front end to avoid any headaches or surprises down the road.

The Payoff
Sharon was able to take advantage of the Xcel bonus rebates + state tax credit totalling over $8,000 in local heat pump rebates, helping the cost of the installation quite a bit
Now she’s able to feel cool in the summer and energy efficient all year round. Our lead installer, Justin, also rebuilt much of the ductwork to open the home’s system up for the airflow needed for this new heat pump (critical to top design and performance).
Restricted ductwork means restricted airflow, and that can lead to an uncomfortable home, higher energy bills, higher maintenance costs (burned out equipment), and much more if not designed right from the start.
