Just heat pumps. It’s in our name and what we do. We started this company out of passion for the environment, correct design, and improving the HVAC industry as a whole to make sure you have the best heating and cooling system you can get for your home.

After a disastrous experience with a failed heat pump and multiple unreliable HVAC services, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Drawing on my background in physics and mechanical expertise, I founded Just Heat Pumps.

Meet The Founders
K. Xerxes Steirer, PhD
Growing up with a passion for science, my background includes proudly receiving a PhD from the Colorado School of Mines and BS at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA.
I worked for years at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and several research labs in the US and internationally. My work includes clean energy technologies and heat pump improvements. Currently I hold the title of Research Associate Professor in the Physics Department at Mines, and I’m co-Director of the Energy Minor degree program there.
I volunteer as Chair on the Edgewater City Sustainability Board which is tasked with executing the City’s Sustainability Plan.
I love volunteering as a Flag Football Coach and enjoy hiking, snowboarding, and doing yoga when I have the time! My wife Lilly is serving on the Edgewater City Council and is the Executive Director of a non-profit dedicated to fair food for all, Slow Food Denver.
We are raising two great kids who are passionate about health and the environment, with hopes they can grow up helping their communities thrive as well.

Erin Shine, BPI Certified
Ever since I was a kid I always had a passion for sustainability, but also the concept of the total “win-win” between environmental, finance, social, and business benefits combined.
Growing up in Puerto Rico and Florida, I received a B.S. in Finance with a real estate and law focus from the University of Central Florida. After graduating, I wanted to get started in the solar industry. I packed my car, drove out to Colorado site unseen, and the rest is history.
I’ve been in sustainability and entrepreneurship ever since. From solar design, to building up and selling an Inc. 5000-ranked commercial energy efficient lighting company, to starting a blog about attainable netzero homes, YouTube channel, and renovating two netzero homes myself.
I joined Just Heat Pumps because I’m passionate about helping to continue our climate-focused movement and to support Xerxes in his original vision to drastically improve the HVAC industry in many ways.
I’m BPI Energy Auditor certified to combine with proper heat pump design, and also just became an Electrification Coach with Rewiring America as well. I love to volunteer with Go Electric Colorado to offer heat pump and total home electrification advisory calls as well.
I’ve always been a car guy, and lately enjoying the Tesla Model 3P. I play volleyball with the VOTR leagues, and otherwise love building companies (yes it’s fun), and enjoying all that Colorado has to offer.
