Does saving nearly $20,000 AND increasing your energy efficiency sound like something you’d be excited about? If so (and let’s be honest, who wouldn’t) you’re going to wanna hear about Chris’s story.
Chris was someone that already took energy efficiency seriously. He had solar systems in his house and was using state programs to save money. He was on a mission to electrify as much as he could in his home.
Chris happened upon the HEAR (Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates) Program List which features us and knew that with his drive to electrify his home, we were the ones to call.
So with his passion for energy efficiency and the desire to get that old gas furnace and ac out of his home, we dove in together to help this project come to life.
What The Data Told Us
Chris’s single family home was built in 1999 and about 1400sq ft, with a legacy unit that was ready to ride off into the sunset.
We started with an energy audit, as this is something that allows us to understand the ins and outs of a customer’s home and size the system correctly. This isn’t a process we skimp on, and Chris was really impressed how in-depth it all was.

For those that are thinking “what in the world does Manual J mean?” Let me keep it super simple, because it’s important that you know why we do it.
Manual J is the industry standard method for calculating exactly how much heating and cooling a specific home needs.
This looks at things like the volume of the house, insulation levels, air leakage, and even the orientation of the house, plus so much more. By calculating these, we are able to make sure you have the perfect fit for your home, instead of just setting up whatever we have available.
And with these calculations, we decided on a 3.5 Ton LG RED Series R32 Cold Climate Ducted Heat Pump Package With Backup.
A lot of words that simply mean → it’s a heat pump sized exactly for Chris’ home, built to handle Colorado’s coldest days, running through his existing ductwork, with a backup for those really brutal nights.
What Was The Install Like?
Once Chris’ heat pump was in place, something that really stood out to him was the elevated concrete pad (seems to be something a lot of our customers really notice) for his new system.
Also he mentioned he was building a brand new back patio, which means he at least has one less problem to worry about – a loud AC unit banging on and off while he’s entertaining in the backyard with friends and family. His heat pump will be as quiet as a conversation.

Chris brought to our attention that he really enjoyed his Nest (a device that connects to smart devices in the home) and wanted to be able to integrate his system within the app and all the smart devices in his home.
Luckily we were able to make that a success, meaning he can control his heat pump right from his phone, alongside the rest of his smart home.
The Payoff
Going through the process of rebates can be daunting and confusing, but Chris went through it all like a champ, and because of that, he was able to save a pretty substantial amount of money. Just so you can see how it’s all laid out, here is how Chris saved big time:

State of Colorado Heat Pump Discount: – $1,000.00
Colorado Heat Pump HEAR Rebate 50% Tier: – $8,000.00
Colorado Electrical Wiring HEAR Rebate 50% Tier: – $1,574.00
That is $19,199. All we have to say is whoa.
