Let’s Get Ready For An Awesome Heat Pump Installation!
1. How Scheduling Works: Reliability, Communication, and Respect
Our vision is to set the standard for professionalism in HVAC, and that starts with how we show up.
- Once your proposal is accepted, we schedule your install at the earliest mutually compatible date.
- Most installations take 2 – 3 days, depending on project complexity.
- You receive clear communication before, during, and after the project—we don’t leave you guessing.
- If weather, permitting, or material delivery shifts the schedule, we update you immediately.
- Our installers operate with respect for your space and time, arriving prepared and ready to work efficiently.
2. Our First Visit – Project Planning and Walkthrough
After you have signed our proposal and given us the go-ahead to install your heat pump, we like to plan a project walkthrough visit usually one to two weeks before the heat pump installation. The visit can take an hour or longer, and this is usually because we have many aspects of the installation we want to get absolutely correct so that the install days go much smoother.
We must plan for plumbing, electrical, concrete pad (heat pump outside location), mechanical, ductwork, and much more while we are there. Here are some other notes to know of for this visit:
- There might be many people there. A heat pump installation is a team effort, and you’ll be meeting our sales team, the HVAC installers/tech leads, electricians, helpers, and possibly even us owners.
- Please give us access to the whole home, as we’ll need to inspect many different areas
- Please have the deposit check ready for us, as we collect it on this first visit.
- If any changes should come up, we’ll discuss these with you and adjust as needed. If everything looks good, we’ll plan the install day (exciting)!
3. Install Day – Why We Turn Off Your Heat During Pressure Testing
Because your old system may be disconnected during this process, your previous heating system will be turned off. This allows us to do one of the most important actions of the entire project. At Just Heat Pumps, we refuse shortcuts. Your system’s reliability, efficiency, and environmental impact depend on the integrity of the refrigerant piping circuit. To protect your investment and the environment, we perform:
- A multi-hour high-pressure nitrogen test
- Triple evacuation for moisture removal
- Verified, documented confirmation of a sealed system
- We do not release refrigerant into the atmosphere.
- We prevent leaks before they happen.
- We build systems designed to last 15–20+ years.
- We uphold the highest standards of environmental responsibility and technical craftsmanship.
4. Keeping You Comfortable: Space Heaters Provided
During the overnight high pressure testing when heat is temporarily unavailable, we provide high-quality space heaters at no cost. On cold days, we make sure your family stays warm and protected.
5. Prepare Your Home for Safety, Efficiency, and Good Flow
A clear work area allows us to operate more safely, efficiently, and cleanly.
Inside
Please clear a 4–6 foot area around:
- your existing furnace or mechanical room
- the indoor air handler location
- any crawlspace or closet access points
- the path from the front door to the work area
- your electrical panel
- the thermostat location
Outside
Please clear:
- patio furniture
- yard equipment
- stored items or toys near the installation site
6. Electrical Access and System Integration
We will need access to:
- your main electrical panel
- any subpanels
- the electrical meter area
- exterior wall routes for the disconnect and whip
7. What to Expect During Installation: Craftsmanship in Motion
Heat pump installation is hands-on, technical work. Our team is:
- Careful to protect all floors and surfaces during work.
- Methodical in our step-wise approach using the highest standards in the industry.
- Detail-oriented paying attention to customer request and the overall look.
- Respectful of your home
You may hear drills, compressors, vacuum pumps, or occasional material cutting. We minimize noise, contain dust, and clean thoroughly at the end of each day.
8. System Commissioning: Your Heat Pump’s First Moment of Truth
When everything is installed, we complete our commissioning process one of the most rigorous in the industry.
We verify:
- refrigerant charge
- airflow and duct performance
- electrical safety
- heat output and cooling capacity
- sensor accuracy
- thermostat communication
- sound levels
- line temperatures and pressures
- defrost performance (when applicable)
Then we walk you through your new heat pump:
- how to adjust comfort settings
- how to set up and use your app and thermostat
- how backup heat works
- filter maintenance
- what normal noise sounds like
- what to expect during cold snaps and defrost cycles
9. After We Leave: Long-Term Support and Partnership
Our values continue long after installation day.
Every customer receives:
- 1 year of included maintenance
- priority service scheduling
- Completed rebate paperwork
- warranty registration
- ongoing support through the lifespan of your system
Your new heat pump is a major upgrade, and it deserves a careful, thoughtful installation. With your preparation and our commitment to excellence, the entire experience is smooth, safe, and transformational.
